Additional Benefits
Short Term Disability (STD) insurance is available through New York Life. This is an optional, employee-paid program that provides coverage through convenient payroll deductions. Short Term Disability insurance pays you when you are unable to work due to an illness or injury, for a period of up to 13 weeks. There is an initial waiting period of 7 days before benefits kick in, during which time you can use accrued sick or vacation time to be paid. Otherwise, the benefit will pay (on top of CA state disability SSDI) 20% of your weekly covered earnings, up to $1,000 per week.
